Made for the kind of play that earns shelf space
Autumn is when children notice the leaves all around them, and a pocket full of leaves is already the beginning of a counting lesson. This wooden ten frame gives that instinct somewhere to go, with twenty double-sided hardwood leaves to sort, count, and arrange.
Ten frames are one of the most useful manipulatives in early math, because they give a child a way to see a number before they can write it. Seven leaves fill a row and leave three gaps, and a child who has arranged that a hundred times knows what seven looks like long before anyone asks them to add it to anything. This one was made to live on a preschool, homeschool, or kindergarten shelf for years.
Instead of paint, the set uses the color contrast between two woods. The maple leaves are cut from solid maple and the cherry leaves from solid cherry, which lets a child build a set of ten two different ways, compare two groups side by side, and notice doubles and even numbers before those words mean anything. There is no dye or paint anywhere in the set.
Each leaf is cut from solid hardwood rather than plywood and laser-engraved with its veins on both faces, so the set does the work of a nature study as readily as a math shelf. Carry the leaves outside and match each one to the tree it came from, hide them in a rice or bean sensory bin for an autumn dig, or scatter them across a nature table.
This is a piece that fits naturally alongside Montessori math, Singapore Math, and most preschool and kindergarten counting curricula. If the teacher at school is reaching for a ten frame, this is the one worth having at home too.
Wood is a natural material, and grain and tone vary slightly from piece to piece. We think that is part of the charm.

Free personalization, always
Personalization is included at no extra cost. Add a child's name for a back-to-school gift, a classroom name for a teacher building out a math shelf, or a family name for a homeschool staple the whole family will reach for.
Just type the name into the personalization field at checkout, and we will engrave it across the top of the board. The personalized board is slightly taller to make room for the name banner. Prefer it plain? Leave the field blank and the board arrives without a name.
