Welcome to Bose Family Studios. We are a small, family-run studio in Portland, Oregon that designs and makes handcrafted wooden games, puzzles, playscapes, and learning materials for children. These terms explain how our website and shop work, and by browsing our site or placing an order you agree to them. We have tried to keep them plain and readable, the same way we try to keep everything we make.
Who we are
Bose Family Studios is owned and operated by Lauren and Milton Bose in Portland, Oregon, USA. You can reach us any time at lauren@bosefamilystudios.com. Throughout these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Bose Family Studios, and “you” refers to the person visiting our site or placing an order.
Our products
Every item we sell is handmade from natural wood and finished with food-safe materials, so small variations in grain, color, and tone are normal and are part of what makes each piece one of a kind. We photograph our products as accurately as we can, but the exact look of the wood will vary from piece to piece. Our products are designed for children ages 3 and up, are CPSC-compliant, and are meant to be used with adult supervision. Please keep small pieces away from children under 3.
Orders and payment
When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy the items in your cart at the prices listed. We accept orders through this website using secure payment processing provided by Stripe, and through our Etsy shop using the secure payment methods offered there. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars. We reserve the right to correct any pricing or product errors, and to decline or cancel an order if an item is unavailable or if we suspect fraud, in which case we will refund you in full.
Personalized and custom items
Many of our pieces can be personalized with a name or a theme. Because we cut these to order, please review your personalization details carefully before you buy, since we make each custom piece exactly as it is entered. You are responsible for the spelling and details you provide. Cancellations for any order can be requested within 24 hours of purchase, before we begin cutting and finishing your pieces.
Shipping, returns, and cancellations
Our shipping timelines, return and exchange terms, and cancellation window are described in full in our Shipping Policy and our Returns & Refunds Policy. Those policies are part of these terms, and we encourage you to read them before ordering.
Intellectual property
The designs, product photography, text, logo, and other content on our site and listings belong to Bose Family Studios and may not be copied, reproduced, or used to make or sell competing products without our written permission. You are welcome to share our photos and posts to tell a friend about us, and we are always grateful when you do.
Product safety and use
We design and test our products to be safe for their intended age range and use, and we test every design with real kids before it reaches our shop. Even so, all play should be supervised by an adult, and products should be used as intended. We are not responsible for injury or damage that results from misuse, from use by children outside the recommended age range, or from play without appropriate supervision.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or incidental losses. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law, and where those laws give you stronger protections, those protections apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as our shop grows or as our practices change. When we do, we will post the updated version here with a new date at the top. Orders are governed by the terms in effect at the time you place them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
